Use this guide to compare common WMR and IRS2Go stages without assuming every account moves on the same schedule.
Quick take
- Accepted means the IRS received the electronic return; it is not the same as refund approved.
- Processing or still processing can appear before, during, or after review depending on the account.
- Approved usually means the IRS has scheduled the refund, but bank posting can still depend on the receiving institution.
- Sent means the IRS says it sent the refund by direct deposit or mail; it does not always mean the money is visible in the bank yet.
How to use this thread
- Post the date WMR first became available, exact message wording, whether you claimed EITC or ACTC, and whether your transcript has an 846 refund-issued line.
- Do not refresh WMR all day and assume every wording change is meaningful.
